The Make Munich is Southern Germany’s largest maker and Do It Yourself festival. At the two-day event, the innovation-, environment- and technology-conscious makers present their culture and technologies on exhibition stands, lectures and hands-on workshops.

The motto for 2019 is “Making Connections”. Make Munich is the exhibition for trends and innovations in the areas of high-tech DIY, 3D printing, robotics, hardware start-ups, wearables, and tech-culture. It is a forum of presentations, dialogue and exchange for Makers, hobbyists, electronic geeks and designers.

So, what are makers?

We’ve all heard of 3D printing – but have you printed anything yourself? Can you repair your phone? Terms like IoT, robotics and digitalisation surround us. But how does it work and can I try it out? That’s what Make Munich is for. The DIY-Festival for tinkerers and inventors.

Makers are the creative pioneers who use digital tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, microcontrollers and many others to invent, develop and produce innovative things. They not only want to be passive consumers, but also want to understand technology in order to transform it for their own purposes and create something new. In Makerspaces and FabLabs they experiment and develop together – worldwide connected.

In this way, production and product innovation are no longer reserved for enterprises alone. The Maker-Movement stands for a democratization process of production and this open innovation culture of the Maker, designed for sharing and community. It has the potential to radically change our society and economy – like the Internet has already done in the last 25 years.

At Make Munich they present their culture and technologies to the public. Building, inventing, experimenting, learning, recycling, inspiring and having fun are the focus of this fair “by makers for makers”.

At the Make Munich festival on 2 + 3 March 2019, the whole spectrum of the maker movement will be on display at exhibition stands and in many inspiring lectures. But just “looking” and “listening” is not enough, because it’s all about “doing it yourself” and trying it out: In numerous hands-on workshops, “young talent makers” are taught all the skills they need to become creative and inventive themselves.
